He's there! Beaujolais Nouveau 2020. What an amazing wine, full of fruit, character and strength. This fruity wine has a light acidity in combination with velvety tannins. In the fragrance it has aromas of berries, cherries and plums. In the mouth we feel the power of the fruit, it is balanced and has a great length. A wine that ensures that the glass is empty quickly.
Claire Chasselay, together with her brother Fabien, runs the small family estate located in the Appellation Conrôlée Côte de Brouilly, one of the famous Crus du Beaujolais. In the center of this is an extinct volcano. The heat of the magma underground was so intense that soil layers above 'thickened' into deep blue-gray blocks of stone of unprecedented weight. The Chasselay family owns vineyards in the north of the appellation and in the far south at l'Heronde. The region is wedged between the central massif on the west side and the Alps on the east side. The Beaujolais area also has several types of soil, each of which imparts its own ripeness and style to the grapes. The gamay clone Claire uses has small, thick-skinned berries. Claire says that in order to make good wine, you have to know, see and understand 100% the character of the vineyard concerned. On his Cruijff's "You only understand when you understand".
