This Malbec Vintage resembles a close cousin of Vintage Port, but with less alcohol (16% vol) and residual sugar (100 gr per litre). It has a very fruity and complex scent of blackberry, cassis with hints of violets, spices and cocoa. Soft and velvety in the mouth, with a long and fresh finish. Properly stored, this cuvée can be kept for the next 10 years. This wine goes perfectly with foie gras, blue cheeses and chocolate desserts, but is also a treat as an aperitif!
2016 was a dream year. Something that has become rare in recent years. Spring started cool and wet and suddenly changed my mind just before the vines bloom, with more sun and pleasant temperatures. These ideal weather conditions lasted until autumn, interrupted only by some salutary rainfall in July and August, while the beautiful month of September allowed the grapes to reach full maturity. This completely "stress-free" harvest started on Wednesday, October 5, 2016.
The grapes for this cuvée are picked late. Neutral alcohol is added before the alcoholic fermentation is complete to preserve the natural sugars. The wine is aged for a year in 500 liter used oak barrels.
