Yiftah is a powerful and elegant wine with a rich fruit character and notes of vanilla and roasted wood. The wine has matured for 18 months in French oak barrels and will continue to mature and age beautifully over time.
Yiftah Vineyard 2014 is a Merlot and Petit Verdot blend from one vineyard that expresses the longstanding partnership between Micha Vaadia, winemaker of Galil Mountain Winery, and Doris Faran, winemaker of Yiftah Vineyard. Micha and Doris have been working together for about a decade and focus on improving the quality of viticulture to make only the best quality wine.
The quality of the Merlot and Petit Verdot grapes in the 2013 harvest was particularly good, with a distinctive fruit character, which made Micha decide to bring this into the wine in a focused and unique way. Yiftah Single Vineyard mainly expresses the distinct style and character of wines from Upper Galilee in general, and from the Kadesh Valley in particular. Yiftah Vineyard is located in the Kadesh Valley, west of the Hula Valley. The combination of fertile soil (red clay-like) and optimal weather conditions for growing wine grapes makes the region one of Israel's best for producing quality wines.
